The details

About this piece

An Amigo the Devil design built on an old satirical engraving. A giant skull is labelled The Patent Medicine Trust, with rows of quack-cure bottles for teeth and labels promising slow poison for little children. Dark humour with a history lesson, the kind of thing his songs love; the back keeps it simple with the sigil.

Design

  • Front: AMIGO THE DEVIL in spaced capitals over an engraved skull reading THE PATENT MEDICINE TRUST. PALATABLE POISON FOR THE POOR, with medicine bottles for teeth.
  • Back: The Amigo the Devil sigil, large, in white.
